Over time, this results in impaired contractility,<br \/>\n        left ventricular dilation, and progressive heart failure.\n      <\/p>\n<p class=\"disease-muted\">\n        While historically more prevalent in Western countries, the number of affected patients is increasing in Japan.\n      <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"disease-row\">\n<div class=\"disease-row__h\">\n<h2>Symptoms and diagnosis<\/h2>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"disease-row__b\">\n<p>\n        Common symptoms include shortness of breath, reduced exercise tolerance, and other signs of heart failure.<br \/>\n        Ventricular arrhythmias may also occur.\n      <\/p>\n<p class=\"disease-muted\">\n        Diagnosis is based on echocardiography, cardiac CT, and assessment of coronary artery disease.\n      <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"disease-row\">\n<div class=\"disease-row__h\">\n<h2>Our treatment approach<\/h2>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"disease-row__b\">\n<p>\n        Treatment addresses both coronary artery disease and heart failure, with an individualized strategy based on myocardial viability and overall condition.\n      <\/p>\n<div class=\"disease-callout\">\n<ul class=\"disease-bullets\">\n<li>\n            <strong>Coronary revascularization:<\/strong><br \/>\n            Percutaneous intervention or coronary artery bypass surgery is performed to restore myocardial perfusion\n          <\/li>\n<li>\n            <strong>Heart failure management:<\/strong><br \/>\n            Guideline-directed medical therapy is used to reduce cardiac workload and stabilize function\n          <\/li>\n<li>\n            <strong>Mitral regurgitation:<\/strong><br \/>\n            Valve repair or replacement may be considered when regurgitation contributes to heart failure progression\n          <\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<p class=\"disease-muted\">\n        Advanced surgical options such as left ventricular reconstruction or heart transplantation are considered selectively, based on expected benefit and patient condition.\n      <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"disease-row\">\n<div class=\"disease-row__h\">\n<h2>Advanced therapy and risk management<\/h2>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"disease-row__b\">\n<p>\n        In patients with ventricular arrhythmias or conduction disturbances,<br \/>\n        device therapy such as implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICD)<br \/>\n        or cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) may be indicated.\n      <\/p>\n<p class=\"disease-muted\">\n        In advanced cases, the risk of sudden cardiac death is significant,<br \/>\n        requiring careful monitoring and timely intervention.\n      <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"disease-row\">\n<div class=\"disease-row__h\">\n<h2>Appointment<\/h2>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"disease-row__b\">\n<p>\n      Appointments are required in principle.
