Emergency Room

About Us

Since opening in 1977,, the ER at Kishiwada Tokushukai Hospital has adhered to the philosophy of providing “24-hour, no-refusal medical care,” accepting emergency patients with all types of conditions.

In June 2012, we expanded by adding a 28-bed emergency ward, which includes 8 ICU beds. In December 2012, we were officially recognized as a tertiary emergency medical facility by Osaka Prefecture, becoming a certified emergency medical center capable of providing advanced emergency care for critically ill patients arriving by ambulance or being transferred from other medical facilities.

We’re equipped to accept all emergency patients, from minor injuries to severe conditions, and we serve the emergency needs of not only Kishiwada City but also the surrounding Senshu region. In recent years, we have handled approximately 9,000 emergency cases annually, receiving a large number of ambulances.

Key Features of Our Center

Comprehensive Care from ER to Hospitalization

At our hospital, physicians from the Emergency Medical Center provide continuous medical care from initial treatment to intensive care, ensuring seamless emergency care. Our residents and staff handle the initial treatment for almost all emergency patients, and if intensive management is required for severe infections, burns, or trauma, they continue treatment in the ICU. Since 2013, we have implemented a triage system in our emergency department based on CTAS and JTAS. Triage nurses assess the urgency of each case, allowing our staff to respond promptly to high-priority patients.

Provision of Advanced Emergency Medical Care

Our hospital operates an ER-based system to treat all emergency patients, including walk-ins, with every department supporting emergency medical care. Emergency physicians work closely with specialists from cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, internal medicine, pediatrics, oral surgery, and other departments. There are no barriers between departments, enabling smooth collaboration. In addition, with the cooperation of our allied health professionals, we are fully equipped to provide the highest level of advanced care to all emergency patients.

Treatment Results

In line with Tokushukai Hospital’s philosophy of providing “24-hour, no-turn-away care,” we accept emergency patients with all types of conditions. Additionally, we serve as the final referral hospital in the Senshu medical region for difficult-to-transfer cases such as “upper and lower gastrointestinal bleeding,” “stroke,” “limb trauma,” and “pediatric cases.”

We receive approximately 9,000 ambulance patients annually, along with 30,000 walk-in patients outside of regular hours. We handle a wide range of conditions, including 40% trauma cases, 8% gastrointestinal cases, 6% cardiovascular cases, and 5% respiratory cases, covering both internal and external causes. In 2014, we treated 975 tertiary emergency patients.

Facilities Overview

Our ER is an open-plan, single-floor space that allows for easy visibility across the entire area. It is equipped with 1 negative pressure resuscitation room, 4 emergency treatment stations, 3 negative pressure observation rooms, 3 observation beds, and 7 IV drip beds, making it possible to accommodate multiple ambulances at once. The observation beds also serve as overnight beds, enabling extended monitoring and treatment in the ER when needed.

The emergency ward consists of 28 beds, including 8 ICU beds, 6 observation beds, and 14 general beds, allowing us to handle tertiary emergency patients. The diagnostic equipment essential for emergency care, such as a 320-slice helical CT, a 3.0 Tesla MRI, and the latest angiography equipment, operates 24/7, along with our labs for blood and bacterial testing.
