Total Number of Surgeries: 734

Acute Aortic Dissection Stanford A: 65 cases (all emergency surgeries)

Overall Surgery Volume

The total number of cardiovascular surgeries has increased significantly. Open-heart surgery (OPCAB + cardiopulmonary bypass), which had been on a downward trend since the introduction of TAVI, has also exceeded 300 cases for the first time in a while. The number of surgeries categorized as heart and thoracic aortic surgery, which includes TAVI, TEVAR, and open-heart surgery, has also increased considerably.

Isolated Coronary Artery Bypass

94 cases (including MAZE and left atrial appendage excision)

  • Off-pump CABG:78 cases (83.0%)
  • Emergency/Semi-emergency surgeries:42 cases (42.6%)

Isolated Valve Disease

62 cases (including MAZE and left atrial appendage excision in each case)

  • Aortic valve replacement:23 cases MICS:16 cases, MICS implementation rate for first-time AVR: 73%
  • Mitral valve plasty:19 cases MICS:18 cases, tricuspid valve combined 3 cases, MICS implementation rate: 95.0%
  • Mitral valve replacement:10 cases MICS: 4 cases, MICS implementation rate for first-time MVR: 50.0%
  • Combined surgery of 2 or more valves:10 cases
  • CUrgent/semi-urgent surgery:4 cases 6.5%

Note: The number of cases involving MICS (Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery) has been increasing year by year. Currently, all such surgeries are performed entirely through endoscopy. The benefits for patients include smaller incisions and less pain. The clear field of view also allows surgeons to perform reliable operations.

Isolated Aortic Surgery (Open) 90 cases

  • Ascending aorta and partial arch replacement:42 cases
  • Total arch replacement: 28 cases
  • Aortic root replacement:7 cases
  • Aortic root + total arch replacement:5 cases
  • Other(e.g., extensive replacement of descending thoracoabdominal aorta):8 cases
  • Emergency/Semi-emergency surgeries:62 cases(68.9%)

Combined Surgeries 48 cases

Coronary artery bypass + valvular disease (including MAZE procedure):15 cases

  • Aortic valve + coronary artery bypass:4 cases
  • Mitral valve + coronary artery bypass:7 cases
  • Two or more valves + coronary artery bypass:4 cases

Valvular Disease + Aorta 14 cases

  • Aortic valve + ascending aorta and partial arch replacement:11 cases
  • Aortic valve + total arch replacement:2 cases
  • Mitral valve + ascending aorta and partial arch replacement:1 case

Coronary Artery Bypass + Aorta 10 cases

  • Coronary artery bypass + ascending aorta and partial arch replacement:4 cases
  • Coronary artery bypass + total arch replacement:6 cases
  • Coronary Artery Bypass + Valvular Disease + Aorta 5 cases

Other Combined Surgerie 4 cases

  • Emergency/Semi-emergency surgeries:11 cases (22.9%)

Other Cardiac Surgeries 16 cases

  • Atrial septal defect:2 cases (performed using MICS)
  • Left ventricular rupture:5 cases
  • Pulmonary artery thrombectomy:4 cases
  • Left ventricular thrombus:2 cases
  • Other:3 cases
  • Emergency/Semi-emergency surgeries:9 cases (56.3%)

Open-heart Surgeries 310 cases
Emergency/Semi-emergency surgeries: 128 cases (41.2%)

Thoracic stent graft insertion (TEVAR) 50 cases
Emergency/Semi-emergency surgeries: 15 cases (30.0%)

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) 131 cases
Emergency/Semi-emergency surgeries: 5 cases (3.8%)

  • Apical approach:2 cases
  • Subclavian artery approach:1 case
  • Aortic approach:2 cases
  • Femoral approach:126 cases

Total Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeries: 491 cases

Other thoracic surgeries: 29 cases

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms (including total iliac artery aneurysms): 96 cases
Emergency/Semi-emergency surgeries: 16 cases (16.7%)

The number of surgeries for abdominal aortic aneurysms has generally remained the same or shown a slight decreasing trend. There was a period when we significantly shifted towards stent graft treatments, but over time, the long-term observations have revealed risks such as recurrence. Therefore, we have slightly shifted back towards open surgery.

  • Open abdominal aortic graft replacement:49 cases (Emergency surgeries: 6 cases)
  • Abdominal aortic stent graft insertion (EVAR):47 cases (Emergency surgeries: 10 cases)

Peripheral vascular surgeries (bypass, thrombectomy, etc.)46 cases
Emergency/Semi-emergency surgeries: 21 cases (45.7%)

Other (shunt construction, etc.): 72 cases
