FAQ – Remote Medical Interpretation
Can I use my own phone or app for interpretation?
No. For security and privacy reasons, we use only our
hospital-issued iPads and iPhones with the official
mediPhone system.
Will my conversation be private?
Yes. All calls are handled as confidential medical
information. Some calls may be recorded for quality assurance. All data is handled in accordance with applicable privacy regulations.
Do I need to make a reservation in advance?
For common languages (for example, Chinese or Vietnamese),
interpreters are usually available without a reservation.
For less commonly used languages, we may ask you to
book in advance to ensure availability.
Are the interpreters real people or AI?
All interpretation is provided by
professional human interpreters, not AI.
This is especially important for medical conversations that
require nuance and empathy.
Is the service really free?
Yes. The interpretation service is
completely free of charge for patients receiving
care at our hospital. There is no additional fee for using this
service.
