Da Vinci Proctor — what this means for patients

A Proctor certification is awarded to surgeons who meet high standards in robotic surgery,
allowing them to train and supervise other surgeons performing da Vinci procedures.
In Japan, this certification is held by only a limited number of urologists.

For patients, this means your surgery is performed by a surgeon whose technique
has been independently evaluated through peer assessment.

Robotic Surgery Centre
As Centre Director, Dr. Nishihata oversees the hospital’s robotic surgical programme across departments.
The Centre performed 91 urological robotic procedures in 2023,
including prostatectomy, partial nephrectomy, radical nephrectomy, and nephroureterectomy.

Surgical approach
Treatment decisions are based on clinical indication, disease stage, and patient priorities.
Robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery is offered where appropriate,
alongside open and endoscopic techniques.
